December 2019
Dear Family and Friends,
Hope everyone is doing great! There are so many exiting things to share with you all from 2019!
I made a big change in 2019 myself and moved to Austin! Charleston is a great place to visit but wasn’t for me! I wanted to be closer to the family so now Sean, Angie, Rory, Mom, Dad and I are all in the same place. It’s Mom’s dream come true. Trust me when I say she is subtly pushing for Jason and Brittaney to make their way here as well. Speaking of Jason and Brittaney, they are engaged! We are so excited for Brittaney to be part of our family!
I’m still working for lululemon here in Austin. I am still enjoying the company and love what I do! I haven’t found a place to teach yoga yet but I’m sure I will in the New Year. I’m really enjoying exploring this new town!
One of the most exciting thing that happen in the CF community this year was the approval of Trikafta. Trikafta is a CFTR modulator therapy; it helps defective CFTR proteins work more effectively. It works as a corrector — it binds to the faulty CFTR protein and helps it fold correctly so that more of the protein can be shuttled to the cell membrane instead of being degraded. I have been reading a lot of successful stories of CFers who are taking it. They say they are coughing less and their lungs feel so much better. They are able to take deeper breathes and do more activity. This isn’t a cure but it’s the closest we have come to one! It’s so freaking exciting! I don’t know if I am eligible to take the drug yet or not. I will ask my transplant team when I go visit in January. It is also helping people with their digestive system, nose and diabetes. All things that I could really benefit from. We wouldn’t have this amazing drug if it wasn’t for all of you that have helped us to raise money over the years. Feel good about yourself this holiday season. You truly have changed thousands of peoples lives. Thank you!!
Thank you for your continued support of Lyndsey’s TLC Foundation and of me! I would be lost without all of you. I hope you have a great holiday season and an amazing 2020!
Love,
Lyndsey McLaughlin
